Up and Running

February 4th, 2010

Well, after a tiny bit of downtime on my site I’m back up and running.  I switched away from a very difficult service provider to a new, fantastic one called A Cappella Hosting.  Mike Jankowski, who runs the show over there, offers great solutions, a great price, and there’s a comfort level since he’s specializing in a cappella clients!

I’m currently up to my eyeballs in arrangements from artists like The Duhks and Robbie Randolph, and have had a few new groups join my growing client list.  Fairly soon (I’m aiming for the next two months) I’m going to overhaul my web site completely.  Yes, I’ve said it before but this time I mean it!!

Happy Holidays

December 1st, 2009

Happy Holidays, everyone!Wow, it’s December. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and are looking forward to the rest of the holidays this year. News on my end: I’m available for custom arrangements starting in January, as I’m only selling my existing catalog for the rest of the month. I’ll have new, slightly higher rates in 2010, as I’ve tried to keep my pricing competitive with my fellow arrangers out there.

Please continue to contact me if you have questions about custom arrangements, and if you email me and officially ‘book’ an arrangement before the end of this month (to start in January) I’ll be sure to give you 2009 pricing.

Best wishes and happy singing -

-Randi

It’s a record!

November 6th, 2009

I’ve sold 9 arrangements in one week.  My eyes are popping out of my head since my full-time job is taking care of my little toddler… but I am so thrilled that there are lots of arrangements of mine all over the place.  I must say my most favorite recent arrangement I’ve done is Adele’s “Right As Rain”.  Such a groove to it and SO nice to hear a female solo in a lower range for a change.

In a few weeks I will be switching over to new hosting, so I wanted to give a shout out to Mike at A Cappella Hosting.  He has some great offers, excellent customer service, and loads of people in the greater a cappella community are using him.  Maybe I’ll FINALLY do a new Wordpress theme!

Lastly, come see me in my FINAL Treble show at the Parkside Lounge in NYC.  For more details or to RSVP see our page on Facebook.  It’s Wednesday, November 11th at 8PM.

I’m baaaack!

August 24th, 2009

After a brief hiatus from updating this site, I’m back – just in time for the fall rush of arrangement requests from schools across the country (and globe – I have had clients as far as the UK and Australia).  If this is your first time visiting my site – welcome and feel free to stay a while.  If you’re a returning client/friend/a cappella fan, welcome back!

I’m on Twitter now at (what else) www.twitter.com/nycacappella where I’ll try to ramble about anything a cappella-related on my mind.  I’ve even found a Google Voice number that’s AWESOME to give out to clients.  Shoot me an email and I’ll send it to you!

Coming up in the pipeline, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, a 60s “Girl Group” medley and The Ting Tings.  Hope everyone’s had a wonderful summer and is ready for fantastic fall!

A Cappella Finals

April 17th, 2009

Tomorrow night (Saturday, April 18th) I’ll be at the Varsity Vocals FINALS for the ICCAs and the ICHSAs. That’s the International Championship of Collegiate/High School A Cappella. It’s always an amazing show, there are always gatherings of a cappella die-hards like myself, and this year I’m involved in two new ways:

1) An NYC A Cappella customized arrangement is being given away to a group! Not sure yet if it’s a first place or second place group or if it’s high school or college.

2) My a cappella group, Treble, is singing in the Grand Foyer before the doors open at 6PM. If you’re not coming to the show but still have an itch to hear some a cappella, our show is free in the lobby and open to the public!!! Entrance to Alice Tully Hall is at West 65th Street and Broadway.

Hope to see you there!

The Winter “La’s”

February 6th, 2009

Instead of focusing on the freezing winter blahs we’ve had in NYC, I’m working on my winter ‘la’s’ and up to my eyeballs in arranging! Unfortunately I have a terrible web hosting service and will be switching soon to a new one, so I apologize if the site’s been down a few times.

Still working on a new site redesign, but in the meantime a few songs I’ve arranged recently include “Everything I’m Not” by The Veronicas and a new Motown medley.

Coming soon, a contest where a group will win a FREE NYC A Cappella arrangement!

Happy Holidays!

December 7th, 2008

Hi everyone – it’s been quite a while and a busy few months for me.  I just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season this year.  Though I’m always busy arranging with every free moment I can find, I also sing in an a cappella group in NYC called Treble.  To see me as a performer instead of the arranger (you know and love), here’s a YouTube video of me singing “Every Little Thing” by The Police. Not my arrangement, though I am doing other arrangements for the group.

In 2009 I’ll have a bit of a redesign for my site, a few announcements and hopefully more clients joining the roster! I’ve welcomed back lots of previous clients and a few new ones and hope to have an exhaustive list posted soon!

A busy fall

October 11th, 2008

My daughter turned 1, and on top of chasing her all over our home, I’ve had lots of arranging. New clients include Vocalise from Ohio, and I’ve had a handful of old clients come back for more music. My new favorite song that I’m arranging is “Pumpkin Soup” by Kate Nash. It’s catchy, screams “arrange me, please!” and even though it has nothing to do with pumpkins, it’s so apropos for the fall.

It’s Here!

Almost Had It All – $0.99

After a year’s worth of work, spending my own dough and what little time I have, I have finished the first song I’ve ever arranged and produced on my own.  Over the years I’ve served as producer for a few semi-professional CDs and collegiate CDs, groups that I belonged to, but I decided to do a one-off project that has been my labor of love where I had creative control over the whole process. Yippee!

The song is “Almost Had It All” by Dana Glover. The blow-your-mind talented Cara DiNorcia is singing lead, accompanied by myself, Randi Culang, Yeraz Markarian, Dana Wise and Sara Yood.  We recorded the song at J. Armen Studios in NYC and it was mixed and mastered at Pinewood Productions.

Click here for a sample of Almost Had It All

If you like it, please support the little engine that could: me, and **download the full song. This is the first song I’ve ever done without an official group, and I’m grinning from ear to ear in the hopes that you like it as much as I do.  Click the “Buy Now” button below where you can purchase the song using a credit card or Paypal account.

**Please don’t send the file to your friends, as it’s stealing/piracy/illegal/however you want to slice it!

I can hear the choir singing “Hallelujah”.

September 10th, 2008

After spending the last month sending my failed hard drive all over the country, I’m happy to say that 90% of my data was recovered and it looks like all of my NYC A Cappella files are here to stay! That being said, a few groups have contacted me about arrangements and I had you all on permanent hold…

I’m back in business. Lots of my custom arrangements for sale, with no existing arrangement more than $50. For the next month, buy any two existing arrangements for $80 ($10 off each!), and new clients requesting custom arrangements get $50 off.  Coming soon, an arrangement by yours truly, recorded with some of my friends.  I guess it’s the first NYC A Cappella official recording!  Stay tuned.
