Random facts about me, mostly relating to a cappella.
I’ve been singing in a cappella groups for the last 18 years.
I’ve lived in NYC for the last 10 years. Hence the site name.
I have perfect pitch, which isn’t always a blessing!
I was a member of, directed, and arranged for:
- Treble (NYC semi-professional): 5+ years
- The Sirens (NYC semi-professional): 3 years
- A random co-ed project with Freddie Feldman
- Significant Others (Northwestern University)
- Sans Hommes (high school – yes, we had contemporary groups!)
I sing alto and can hit the C below a middle C; a feat I’ve been working on most of my adult life. I also do a bit of vocal percussion and by “do” I mean, “I attempt it, don’t sound bad ‘for a chick’, and am extremely envious of those who can literally spit fire.”
I’ve also reviewed forĀ RARB for a total of about 5 years.
I’m female. The name ‘Randi’ throws many people off, even with the ultra-feminine ‘i’ at the end. Just in case you’re wondering… I’m Randi Stanley. Haha. What a name combination.
Proof that I’m an a cappella nut: I worked for Varsity Vocals for a year and a half. That’s not the ‘nut’ part. I applied for the job on my honeymoon, from Hawaii, because I was worried someone else would get it.
I have been a nominator for the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards for 3 years.
I’m a Mom. Kids are cute.
I. Love. To. Arrange.
